I recently discovered an awesome new photo location near Turlock, and I had to share it with you. Atwall Farms is located at 9412 E Keyes Rd, Denair, CA, just off Keyes and Golden State — a quick, easy drive for most Central Valley families. They're open Friday from 5:30-9pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am-1pm and 5:30-9pm.
Finding Atwall Farms
It honestly felt like it was meant to be. I got a text from my sister that just said something like, "There's a super cute new flower farm on Keyes and Golden State, FYI." Then the very next day, Instagram served me an ad for that exact same u-pick flower farm. Okay, universe, I hear you. So that weekend, I decided to go see it for myself.
I love flowers. I love summer. I love a good golden-hour sunset. So walking into Atwall Farms felt like a little slice of a dream.
What to Expect at Atwall Farms
After paying the entrance fee, the staff handed us hand clippers and a bucket and pointed us toward the fields. My daughter and I wandered up and down the rows of zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, baby's breath, and more, picking a flower here and there until we had a bucket we were happy with.
Once we were done picking, we headed to the barn, where you can arrange your own bouquet using their complimentary twine, bands, and a plastic sleeve, then pay for what you picked. It's such a sweet, simple process, and it makes for a fun little outing even before you factor in the photo potential.
Oh — and they have goats. Adorable ones. You can feed them for just $1, which made my daughter's entire day.
Why I'm Excited to Shoot Here
As a Turlock family photographer, I'm always on the hunt for locations that feel fresh, colorful, and full of life — and a real, working flower field checks every one of those boxes. There's something about a pop of color from a field of zinnias or sunflowers behind a family that just makes a photo feel joyful and alive in a way a plain backdrop can't compete with.
I'm also just genuinely excited about a small, local business opening up in the Central Valley that I get to support while doing what I love. Discovering Atwall Farms felt like finding a hidden gem right in our own backyard.
